52 Card Deck (4 Players/2 Teams)
In the "Hokm" Card Game, four players are divided into two teams and partners sit across from each other.
The team that scores seven matches first is the winner of the game.
To start, one shuffles the deck of cards and deals cards one at a time. The player who receives the first Ace becomes the Ruler (Hakem), and the player who sits across from the Ruler (Hakem) becomes their partner. The player to the left of the Ruler (Hakem) becomes the dealer, and their partner sits across from them.
The dealer shuffles the deck of cards and then distributes five cards to each player in an anti-clockwise direction, starting with the Ruler (Hakem). Now, the Ruler (Hakem) must decide and announce the trump suit, usually based on the highest rank cards and quantity.
The dealer continues giving four cards at a time in an anti-clockwise direction until all cards are dealt, and each player receives 13 cards. (13 x 4 = 52 cards)
Card Ranking
The cards are ranked with the Ace being the highest, followed by King, Queen, Jack, 10, and so on, with 2 being the lowest. The trump suit cards outrank all other cards. For example, if Clubs were trump, the 2 of Clubs would outrank the Ace of Hearts.
The Play
The Ruler (Hakem) leads the first trick. Each player must play a card in the same suit as the card that was led whenever possible. The player with the highest ranking card wins the first trick and must lead the next trick.
A player(s) who cannot follow suit may play any cards. If their partner has the highest ranking card, they should play a low ranking card. Otherwise, to win the trick, they should play a trump card.
Keeping Score
At the end of each match, the team with seven or more tricks is the winner of the match.
If the Ruler (Hakem) and their partner won the first match, the previous dealer continues distributing the cards for the second match, following the steps at the beginning of the tutorial. If not, the Ruler (Hakem) becomes the new dealer, and the player to their right becomes the new Ruler (Hakem).
This process continues until one team scores seven matches and becomes the winner of the game.
